Chapter Programs

Since its chartering on December 5, 1981, the Williamsburg Alumnae Chapter continues to focus on public service initiatives of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority through its Five-Point Program Thrust:

·         Economic Development

·         Educational Development

·         International Awareness and Involvement

·         Physical and Mental Health

·         Political Awareness and Involvement

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Five-Point Programmatic Thrust was established under the leadership of Dr. Dorothy Irene Height, 10th National President.

Our focus is to develop and implement programming to address and improve the education, physical and mental health, and economic well-being of the African Americans and, hence, all Americans. International awareness was included in the Thrust out of concern of the inadequate prenatal and maternity care of women in Africa.

Economic Development - Financial Fortitude Forum

Williamsburg Alumnae Chapter held a Financial Fortitude forum focusing on the entrepreneurial component hosting a small Business Expo. Small business owners shared all aspects of starting, running and growing a small business with the members.

The chapter has worked with the Greater Women of Williamsburg Association and the Black William and Mary Law Students Association to present a Black History Program each February during Black History Week.

Williamsburg Alumnae Chapter has presented several health fairs in conjunction with other health care providers in the community during the International Day of Service held in March.

Most recently Williamsburg Alumnae Chapter worked with Denbigh Alumnae Chapter in the ‘No Child Left Behind’ program to help disadvantaged students.

Williamsburg Alumnae has held fund raising activities in order to obtain money for the scholarships presented each year including An Afternoon of Jazz, Harlem Nights I and II Dinner and Dance, Stay-at-Home Tea, Mother’s Day Gift Raffle, and other activities held in the community.
