Chapter Programs

The Williamsburg Alumnae Chapter has sponsored numerous educational workshops most recently a program to provide computer literacy for elderly citizens.   There have also been financial workshops, support for Relay for Life, voter registration, work with Habitat for Humanity, and support for Avalon which is a shelter for victims of domestic violence.   The chapter has consistently worked with young girls between the ages of 11 to 14 years old via its Delta Academy.  These young girls are provided with activities leading to full growth potential and excellence.  The Chapter has worked with the local NAACP, the Peninsula Pan Hellenic Council, and the Williamsburg AIDS Network. 

The chapter has worked with the Greater Women of Williamsburg Association and the Black William and Mary Law Students Association to present a Black History Program each February during Black History Week.   They have presented several health fairs in conjunction with other health care providers in the community during the International Day of Service held in March.   Most recently Williamsburg Alumnae worked with Denbigh alumnae chapter in the No Child Left Behind program.  The chapter has worked over the years with Mu Upsilon Chapter at the College.   They have joined Mu Upsilon and the Delta Academy girls in the annual Williamsburg Christmas parade held in Colonial Williamsburg.   

Williamsburg Alumnae has held numerous fund raising activities in order to obtain funds for the scholarships presented each year.   In the early years the chapter held a Jabberwock with students participating in talent contests.  They held Baby Contests, the successful Tasting Fest in conjunction with area chefs and most recently the Afternoon of Jazz.   The endeavor has been very successful and is anticipated by members of the community.  For several years the chapter partnered with Colonial Williamsburg to present the enjoyable event of great food, music and dance generating funds for scholarships for worthy students.
